Industry Placement Scholarship
The PICSE-USQ Industry Placement Scholarship consists of...
1. The Camp
Spend a week with 20 other students from Toowoomba and Regional Schools!
Held in November/December each year, this 5 day residential camp offers you the chance to see real science in real life situations, meet scientists and have the opportunity to ask them questions and meet other students with similar interests to yourself.
One student from the successful applicants will be selected for a travelling scholarship, giving them the chance to see Primary Industry science at another PICSE location.
2. The Placement
After your 5 days on camp, the Science Education Officer will plan a 5 day work placement for you to take place during December or January. Placement locations vary, and your areas of interest will be taken into consideration. You could be out in the field or in a lab but you will be placed with a Scientist and will get to experience hands on science.
3. Reporting Back Session
After your placement you will need to prepare a written report and attend a Reporting Back Session at the University of Southern Queensland.
This session will give you the chance to tell your friends, family and mentors about your experiences with PICSE-USQ and give us the opportunity to thank you and present you with your cheque for $300.
4. Reunion
In the year following your Industry Placement Scholarship you will be given the chance to attend a reunion. The reunion will be based at the University of Southern Queensland which will allow you to ask questions about subject choices, meet lecturers, orientate you to the university and catch up with friends from camp.
