Teacher Professional Development

Each year UNE PICSE runs a 2 day Science Teacher Professional Development (TPD) workshop and dinner function.

This event is endorsed by the NSW Institute for Teachers. The sessions included in this event provide teachers with updated science information which they can take back into the classroom. The content is selected so that it links to classroom science and PICSE resource material developed are provided to teachers to support this information to be introduced into classroom teaching.

Teachers attending previous Teacher PD events have offered the following comments:

  •  “You can’t learn everything out of a textbook and this event has armed us with some great new ideas to take back to the classroom”.
  • “We were offered really high level explanations of topical issues and cutting edge science”.
  •  “The PICSE Teacher PD has provided me with applications of current science research and developments. I look forward to sharing what I have learnt about current and future issues with my students”.
  • “This PD has allowed me to be more informed and this enhances the quality of our teaching”.

After attending the previous year’s event, every teacher answered ‘yes’ to the question “If a similar PICSE teacher PD event was run next year would you attend?”
