The PICSE program at UNE continues to grow. Each year there are more students interested in taking part in an industry placement and gaining valuable insight from working along aside a scientist and in industry. New initiatives include the Science Investigation Awards which ran for the first time in 2009.
There are always opportunities for additional sponsors and partners to come on board with PICSE-UNE.

If you are a research organisation involved in the primary industries we would love to hear from you about being involved in the Industry Placement program with our scholarship students. Click here to find out more about how this program works.
In addition you may like to consider becoming a financial supporter of the PICSE program. PICSE-UNE provides outreach to pre-tertiary science students in New South Wales, encouraging them to consider careers in primary industry. The NSW Activity Centre is based at the University of New England, Armidale. In 2007 classroom presentations showcasing the exciting science based careers and the opportunities made available through the program were made to 225 students in 11 schools in Armidale and Tamworth. In 2008, these presentations were offered to 324 students and more recently, in 2009, there were 382 students in the New England and North West regions were involved. We would like to continue to expand the program. However, all our work is limited by resources. We are interested in visiting more schools especially in the North Eastern NSW. So if talking to secondary school students about careers in science is important to your organisation consider sponsoring the proven PICSE-UNE program as part of your outreach strategy. Your organisation may be interested to sponsor selected student(s) with a Industry Placement Scholarship.
PICSE-UNE is also looking for major and minor sponsors of the Science Investigation Awards program. If you are interested in promoting sound investigating skills in NSW high school science students then you might like to sponsor an award for this event. We have a number of award categories from $50 to $500.
