Industry Placement Scholarship

Five day Industry Placement Student Camp
PICSE UNE aims to showcase to the group of tertiary bound yr 11 & 12 students offered a PICSE scholarship the broad range of exciting science based careers supporting the primary industries. The industry placement camp is the first part of the Industry Placement Scholarship provided by the PICSE program and is a great opportunity for the students to see examples of cutting edge science; to become involved in several interactive activities; and to be offered guided tours of award-winning and innovative primary industries based businesses.  The camp is also a perfect opportunity for likeminded students to discuss their passions, have fun and make new friends.  The 5day camp takes place in December.

Five day Industry Placement

Following the camp, each student offered the scholarship completes a 5 day Industry Placement hosted by an industry or research scientist. This experience allows students to gain first-hand experience into the area of work of their hosting scientist.

The Industry Placement forms a vital part of the PICSE scholarship program. It provides an opportunity for scholarship students to participate in the real world of research science in the primary industries.

The Industry Placement is organised to take place for one week in January, at a time that is convenient to the host organisation and the student. During this week, scholarship students work alongside research scientists to get a feel for what is happening at the cutting edge of science in the primary industries.

Reporting Back

Following the Industry Placement, students participate in the Reporting Back Session where we get to hear all about the different experiences of the placement program. During this event, students will be awarded a scholarship cheque and a Certificate of Completion for the program. The Reporting Back Session forms part of the Industry Placement Scholarship Program.

The Reporting Back Session is a fantastic opportunity for the students who have completed the camp and placement to tell their friends, family, and sponsors of the program about their experiences. The presentations given by students in the past were of an exceptionally high calibre and all attendees were very impressed by their communication skills and professionalism.
