The 5 day Year 11 & 12 camp is part of the Industry Placement Scholarship program. Students take part in a five day camp based for the first three days in the Riverland and the rest in Adelaide.

2011/12 IPS group

The camp in 2011 was held from November 28th  to December 2nd . On the camp students did activities in the Riverland including

  • A walk  at Calperum Station to observe areas recently flooded
  • A tour of a citrus packing shed
  • Observing irrigation systems in citrus orchards and the production of seedlings in the nursery at Agri-Exchange
  • Monitoring grape vine diseases
  • Looking at the production and life cycle of beneficial insects at Biological Services
  • Touring  an almond orchard to view the technology used
  • Monitoring water quality and biological diversity at Banrock Station

The second part of the camp was in Adelaide and nearby areas where the students took part in

  • Experiments in a winery laboratory
  • A tour of a agronomy services facility
  • A tour of the SARDI Food Science Centre
  • A tour of the SA Water laboratories
  • Experiments to study the behaviour of gases at Flinders University
